-Maia Litz
"Virginia Gentlemen" lived a very pristine or fancy life style living in enormous mansions and throwing parties to discuss things such as politics, laws and human rights. Even though many of them discussed how we shouldn't own slaves simply so that they can do all their work, almost all of them owned one or two slaves themselves!
- Sebastian
Unicorns, Seven foot tall beavers, gargantuan woolly mastodons, and slim waised buffalo were rumors about the west at this time.
-Maia Litz
It is nothing like it would of been today! Slaves were owned, “Virginia gentlemen” ascribed to a distinct lifestyle. On their vast estates, they led lives of refinement and enlightenment, hosting balls and dinners or discussing politics, philosophy and religion.
-Sam
Jefferson was very intrested about the west because there was no knowlege at the time! He decided to send Lewis and Clark on a expidition to see what it was like! At the time the only thing that the US knew about was where they lived! Most of the things that could of helped find info didn't!
Many of the men that lived around louis and clark were known as "Virginia Gentlemen".These men lived very pristine lives and many if not all of them lived in very large mansions and were not used to "living off of the land". Thats why it was so hard for Louis and Clark to find people who could journey with them into the western unknown land that had just been bought from Napolean Bonaparte and France
-Sebastian
Maps back then were very inaccurate. They drew maps depicting California as an island, and the Rocky mountains looked very narrow.
